Tesla Model Y prices are skyrocketing! Is it because of Trump?

Ana sayfa / News

As the 2025 pricing and release date for Tesla’s Model Y Juniper is about to be announced, prices for potential buyers in the US and Canada have started to rise significantly. The Trump administration’s new tariffs and suspension of federal incentives have directly affected Tesla Model Y and Model 3 prices. Tesla Model Y prices in Canada have started to rise dramatically…

First of all, in the US, the Model Y Juniper is now sold without the $7,500 federal tax credit. On the other hand, the Trump administration has requested a 90-day review period for electric vehicle incentives and charging infrastructure grants. After this review, there is a strong possibility that new grants will be terminated completely.

In Canada, Tesla announced that as of February 1, Tesla will increase Model Y prices by 4,000 Canadian dollars (approximately 2,790 US dollars). The prices of the Model 3 Long Range AWD and Performance models will increase by 8 thousand and 9 thousand Canadian dollars, respectively. On the same date, the Trump administration’s punitive tariffs against Canada and Mexico will come into effect, and Canada’s additional duties on US products will be reflected in prices.

Canadian Tesla buyers were already at a disadvantage due to the expiration of federal electric vehicle incentives last year and the depreciation of the Canadian dollar against the US dollar. So the new tariffs make things harder for buyers in the Canadian market by further increasing Tesla prices.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Model Y Juniper was launched in China at a slightly higher price than its predecessor. If a similar pricing policy is implemented in North America, prices for early buyers could rise well above the $35,000 levels we saw last year with discounts and promotions.
